In John 9, as Jesus is walking by, he sees a man who had been blind since birth. As the disciples question Jesus about the cause of this man's disability to be that of his sin or of his parents, Jesus replies, "Neither, but that the works of God should be revealed in him." What appeared to be a crippling condition was actually a gift from God that would allow God's power to be manifested in him. Certainly, standing on this perspective was a different vantage point than any would have considered prior to Jesus entering the scene and offering divine revelation. Jesus goes on to mix clay with his saliva to anoint the man's eyes and and says go and wash in the pool of Siloam that you might have sight. Siloam means "sent." Every once in a while, the Father may send us out. In and through the sending, we are washed of our past blindness and given new sight of our present situation, or of our present condition, or of the Father's heart towards us and His intentions. In the going. In the obedience, we find an exhilarating freedom. There's a new found hope for greater things and possibly even a restoration of dreams long forgotten. I wonder what some of the long forgotten hopes and dreams of this blind man once were. I wonder if as he washed and sight returned, if those visions came back into view. If perhaps those things, he thought were no longer viable options for him came alive once more, even for just an instant. These things I can only speculate about and wonder through. But what do we know from the Scriptures that follow is that through his anointing, washing in the pool of Siloam (sent), and renewed sight, this man had a mighty testimony of Jesus that drew him to faith in the midst of naysayers shaking their heads and fingers at him in disbelief. A renewed vision can lead us to believe God for things that would leave others shaking their heads, but when it's initiated by by the Lord, we can trust Him, and place our hope in Christ. He is faithful to bring every bit of His intentions to pass. He is neither haphazard, complacent, nor forgetful, but altogether worthy of our lives fully surrendered to Him.

Perhaps, you have blind spots. Most of us do. Perhaps, you've given some dreams or visions over to the impossible instead of to the One who makes all things possible. Are you willing to be sent, wherever He may send you, that you might be washed in the sending and regain sight or even see for the very first time? Perhaps, your vision is much smaller than His is for you. If we're still breathing, our story's still unfolding. Maybe today is the day to start asking Him what He would have you do as you yield to Him and begin to operate in His power, His strength, and His might. If prison walls could not hold in the disciples... if death is defeated... if the blind were given sight...the lame walked and captives set free. What is it that holds us back from asking the Father for new sight, for His perspective, and for boldly walking that out as He leads?

From one who was recently sent and can only hope to be sent again, know that He is the "Promise-Keeper, Way-Maker, Miracle Worker, and Light in the darkness!"

He is so worthy of our praises!
